Owned similar model for 3 years, then it broke
By B. Pym
We purchased the Amana bottom freezer model ABB1921DEW in August 2008, and were happy with it at first. Lo and behold, this summer (August 2011) it all of a sudden stopped keeping things cold. The repairman said that a copper tube was leaking and that it would cost us more to remunerate for his labor to find the actual leak as it would to buy a new fridge. Needless to say, we went out that day and purchased a new fridge (Frigidaire). We are genuinely NOT happy regarding how short-lived this refrigerator was. The former one we had last for galore a lot of years, and we thought we were making another wise buy with this model. We have a suspicion that the opening and closing of the bottom freezer may end up jarring the inner workings to the point where the copper piping may have been affected, but with normal wear and tear, it must still not be a problem. We did call Amana, hoping for a good deal of kind of response, even a partial refund, or at least reimbursement for the technician diagnosis and repair costs, but got the frequent brush-off. So we won’t be sticking with Amana in the future.
